Li Sheng, Ph.D

Dr. Li Sheng earned a M.A. in Applied Linguistics from Beijing Normal University and a Ph.D. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Northwestern University.  Dr. Sheng joined the faculty in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Texas-Austin in 2007.  She  is the director of the Language Learning and Bilingualism Laboratory at the University of Texas at Austin.  Her research interests include language development and disorders, lexical-semantic processing and organization, and bilingualism.  Dr. Sheng’s current projects examine language development in Mandarin-English and Spanish-English bilingual children, as well as the manifestations of language disorders in different bilingual groups.  Dr. Sheng has presented her research at both the national and international level, and her works are published in several academic journals; including but not limited to the Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research; Clinical Linguistics and Phonetics; Journal of Child Language; Bilingualism: Language and Cognition, Language, Speech; and Hearing Services in Schools.
