Yi Hu, Ph.D.

Dr. Hu received his B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering at the University of Science and Technology of China. He earned a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis on digital speech processing in noisy environments at The University of Texas at Dallas in 2003 and received his postdoctoral training in hearing science and implantable auditory prosthesis. Dr. Hu was an Assistant Research Professor at the University of Texas at Dallas and is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee. His research interests are in the areas of auditory prosthesis, machine learning, and signal processing. He has published extensively in the area of auditory prosthesis and digital speech processing in adverse listening conditions. Dr. Hu’s current research focus includes cochlear implants and effective delivery of audiologic assessment and aural rehabilitation through digital technology. His research is sponsored by the National Institute of Health/National Institute of Deaf and Other Communication Disorders.
